Imagine a world without these rights:

• States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to eliminate discrimination against women in all matters relating to marriage and family relations and in particular shall ensure, on a basis of equality of men and women: The same rights for both spouses in respect of the ownership, acquisition, management, administration, enjoyment and disposition of property, whether free of charge or for a valuable consideration. (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, Article 16, Section 1, Clause H)
• Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives. (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 21, Section 1)
• States Parties shall respect the rights and duties of the parents and, when applicable, legal guardians, to provide direction to the child in the exercise of his or her right in a manner consistent with the evolving capacities of the child. (Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 14, Section 2)
